Every manufacturer has a bow that defines its engineering ambitions, and for Ravin that is the R500. It is the fastest crossbow the company has ever built, sending a 400-grain arrow out at 500 feet per second with 222 foot-pounds of kinetic energy behind it, and the models page currently lists both trims with a free soft case included.
The speed begins with the HexCoil cam system. Unlike the HeliCoil design used in the rest of the range, HexCoil rotates the cams a complete 360 degrees, which is what allows the R500 to reach a number the traditional architecture never could. What the company emphasizes, and what reviews keep confirming, is that the speed does not come at the cost of string alignment or consistency, the cams stay balanced through the full rotation, keeping the bow calm and accurate at hunting distances.
The other signature piece is the VersaDrive cocking system. A dual-screw drive mechanism moves the Trac-Trigger firing system back and forth along the rail, and an internal clutch makes over-cocking impossible, so the 17-pound cocking effort can be paused and resumed at will, in complete silence. In the company’s own framing, the point of the system is that you spend your attention on shot placement instead of the mechanics of preparing the shot.
Two trims carry the platform. The R500 in black, SKU R050.1, lists at $2,649.99, and the R500 XK7, SKU R054.1, at $2,849.99, the latter adding Kings’ XK7 camouflage and the Speed Lock illuminated scope that locks your fps adjustment in place. Both extend the company’s stated effective and ethical range to 100 yards for practiced shooters.
The official R500 models page carries live pricing, the free case promotion and stock status for both builds.
