Ravin R26X

Ravin R26X

Compact used to be a synonym for compromised. The R26X is the crossbow that argues otherwise, squeezing 400 feet per second and 142 foot-pounds of kinetic energy into a package measuring 26 inches long and 5.75 inches wide cocked, at a weight of 6.5 pounds. Those are numbers that would have belonged to a full-length target rig a decade ago, and they now fit in the space between a daypack and a truck seat.

The layout is bullpup, which is what makes the proportions possible. Ravin puts the working parts close to the shooter’s hand instead of stretching them along a long rail, and the R26X is arguably the best expression of that idea in the range. Hunters with smaller frames, saddle hunters and anyone who moves through tight cover tend to love this bow precisely because it stops feeling like cargo.

At the core sits HeliCoil technology. The cables coil into helical grooves away from the cams, letting each cam rotate 340 degrees while staying perfectly level, and the Versa-Draw cocking system works with the Trac-Trigger firing system to clasp the dead center of the string for straight-line nock travel every single draw. Cocking effort is 12 pounds, and on this model the system is the fully integrated silent version: a one-way bearing strips the noise out of the draw, and you can pause the cocking cycle at any point without the bow barking back at you.

The 100-yard illuminated scope ships with the bow, with reticle aiming points from 20 to 100 yards, red and green illumination, fully coated lenses and housing rated against fog, shock and recoil. The stock is polymer with the ambidextrous soft-touch profile, the riser is CNC-machined aluminum, and the limbs are quad-limb composite. SKU R027, listed at $2,049.99 on the official store, with an XK7 camo variant available if you want the Speed Lock scope upgrade as well.

For hunters who want the accuracy and speed of the bigger Ravins without the length, the R26X is not a compromise pick. It is the design brief done right.
